Glogging
This is something that is off topic but another great website that I found is www.screencast-o-matic.com/. This allows you to "screencast" your computer where you can take video of you doing whatever on your computer. This would be really neat for many classes and can show students detailed instructions. Just thought I would share my findings as well! :)

Podcast Proposal
Purpose of your Podcast
The purpose of this podcast is to reach out to students and families to explain what we are doing in class that week. I will also review main ideas of the class in case a student is gone they can hear small parts of the classes to be able to stay on track with the class and not fall behind. This will also allow parents to have an idea of what to expect from their child for that week and to know what topics we are discussing. I will also highlight upcoming events for next week that are important for the student to know about.
Podcast Description
Identify your intended audience: My intended audience is for students and parents.
Will you broadcast daily, weekly, monthly? My broadcast will air weekly at the end of the week to review the entire week.
Will you host your production? Your students? I will host the podcast so then students can hear my voice speaking Spanish which they are used to. Sometimes I can have students helping if there is a conversation component that was in a lesson to have two different speaking voices in the podcast.
Will the length of your show be a few minutes, 15 minutes? The podcast will vary week to week depending on the information that we have covered. It will however stay relatively short by having three to five minute podcasts to try and have it be a brief review of the week and details about the course and upcoming events.
Will the format/content of your show be newsletter, tips and tricks, make-up work lectures? My format will be a mix between newsletters with the information that the students need, but also make-up work lectures because students can review the basic concepts from the week.
Give a detailed description…
The podcast will air on Fridays to review the week that has just concluded. Students and parents will be able to find any important information out about that week and any upcoming events for the next week. Students will be able to review the main ideas that are from that week with small review parts that will be available on the podcast as well.
Include any state/local objectives this podcast will address
The state standards will be reviewed through the five C’s of foreign language. These five are connections, comparisons, communities, communication, and cultures. These will vary every week which standards are being met.

Amanda's EDUC 552 Blog!
My name is Amanda Mulholland. I currently live in the Des Moines metro and teach at Carlisle Community School District as a middle school Spanish teacher. I enjoy spending time being with friends and family. I also love to travel! Currently, I am working hard on planning my upcoming wedding that is on July 17, 2010. This seems to be quite time consuming! I went to Simpson College in Indianola, IA. I graduated from Simpson in 2007. During my time at Simpson I did a study abroad program in Nicaragua and taught sixth graders English in a elementary school there. It was an amazing experience!
I am really interested in technology and love doing different projects incorporating technology. This has been my main focus this year for my career development plan at my school. I have incorporated many of the items that I have previously used in classes and ones that I have taught myself. I have created a “Moodle” classroom for my middle school students. I have also used different websites that I have created photo-stories, PowerPoints, and more in my classes. I am a PC user. I would love to learn more about Macs but I have not worked with one very much. I am currently using Office 2007 and Windows 7 at home. At our school district we use Office 2007 and Windows XP.
I chose to go through Peru State College for my master’s degree because it seemed very useful to my everyday teaching. I wanted to be a life-long learner and continue my education and this seemed like a great fit for me. I also liked the option of a co-hort program that enabled me to do this program quickly to be able to learn more at a faster pace. I want to use my master’s to better myself as a teacher and to use the information, resources, and ideas in my classroom.
